Colossians: The Head of the Church

Colossians is the letter the Apostle Paul wrote to the church at Colossae.  In this brief letter Paul a full-length portrait of Christ.  Like Ephesians, Paul spends the first half of the letter discussing doctrine and who Christ is - not only head of the church but also head over everything.  The second half of the letter describes what the doctrine means in light of our daily lives.  It has some of the most revolutionary teachings of the forgiveness of sin and salvation and it also puts into focus the importance of faith in Christ over the rituals we so often think will grant us a right standing before God.  We spent a lot of time on the Greek and Greek grammar in this one because it is important to bring the text fully into the English language and get the richness of the meaning of the passages in Colossians.  If you want to get to know who Jesus Christ is for real - not what you've heard or thought or possibly even believed - but who He truly is - then read through this study.  It'll challenge you and bless your heart.
